Kevin Murphy - Powder Puff {Video Review}

Do you have hair that resembles a flat pancake? Don't worry, that makes two of us. Goddammit.
I have naturally curly, frizzy, boofy hair so I blow dry it straight and then straighten over the top of that but am always on the hunt for a bit of volume as I am not so handy with a hair dryer and round brush.

Speaking of hair dryers, on Wednesday afternoon I caught The Husband using my hair dryer to dry his suit pants which he was spot cleaning and then it started to smoke and smelt like burning rubber so I am in the market for a new one. Any recommendations? I hear the Parlux is fantastic.

Anyway, back to it.

I bought the Kevin Murphy Powder Puff product a few months back on eBay, which promised instant easy volume but I was pretty doubtful, I won't lie.

I've tried a heck load of products which promise volume, but do you think they ever worked?
No. They did not. What a waste of money, not to mention space in my cabinet.

I searched YouTube for some good reviews and tutorials but found pretty much jack nothing.

Figured I might as well do my own! Enjoy. 

This product is magic, but don't take my word for it, watch the video!! I am dead set impressed.

Date Night

I hope everyone had a good Anzac day and took a minute or two to really consider the reason why we had this mid week holiday and all the sacrifices that our soldiers took.

We spent the day sleeping in, eating chocolate for breakfast and watching the footy. As an Essendon supporter, that 1 point loss cut deep, especially after rubbing it in The Husbands face in the last 2 minutes of the game.

We decided to go out for Date Night and catch a movie.

I got dressed, put my Abominable Snowman vest on and presented myself to The Husband who gave me the side eye and said “Surely you are not leaving the house in that? Not with me anyway..” but I persisted and I am pretty sure it grew on him.

I’ve heard all these whispers about Hutong Dumpling Bar having the best dumplings in town so we rocked up without a reservation, waited 5 minutes and were seated upstairs.

I had a moment of panic when I discovered that they only had 2 pages of dumplings (and they call themselves a Dumpling Bar…) and no plain prawn dumplings. Seriously, no plain dumplings?! At this stage The Husband was saying “Well, you chose this place!!” after I had a lengthy complaining session.

The service may not have been with a smile but it was very efficient.

My umbrella was taken and hung out of the way, our drinks were ordered and brought to us instantly, as well as being topped up constantly, and our pork dumplings were placed on the table within 5 minutes of ordering them.

One thing that I felt was weird was that they did not have Soy Sauce on the tables, and had that crap vinegar stuff in a pourer so you don’t know that it is vinegar until it is too late and you have doused your food in it. Once I asked for the soy sauce it was brought out in a little bowl for me instantly. Cant help but think that is weird. 

Boiled Pork Dumplings

$13.20 for 12 pieces 

I felt like the casing on the pork dumplings was a bit too thick, but they tasted good none the less.

Singapore Noodles

$12.80  

These noodles were delicious, there were plenty of prawns in there and they actually tasted light and not too greasy.

There was no way that I could finish this so most of it went to waste unfortunately. Worth ordering though, that is for sure. 

Squid in Salt and Pepper

$8.80

This was delicious!

I did notice that The Husband was peeling off the batter and just eating the squid, but that may have been for health purposes as I thought that it tasted great, not too heavy either. 

Prawn & Minced Pork Dumplings

$8.80 for 4 pieces

Listen, they may not have had just plain prawn dumplings, but these pork and prawn dumplings nearly made up for that fact.

I am basically salivating right now, even as I type this.

They were the business.

Pretty expensive for only 4 dumplings, but worth it. Next time I will order 8. 

There used to be a handsome fellow in this photo so you will just have to use your imagination.

I put a tonne of Coconut Oil in my hair as my scalp is driving me nuts and then I couldn’t wash it out properly so only had one option.

Douse with hairspray and slick back. 

After devouring our dinner quick enough to give a bear indigestion we schlepped it to Melbourne Central to catch the showing of The Lucky One and after waiting in line for 15 minutes were told that the session had been cancelled, despite the website still showing that it was playing.

I’m not going to lie, I was pretty annoyed. The Husband was happy though as he didn’t want to watch it in the first place and planning on having a nap during the session.

I didn’t want to watch anything else so we left and headed for some comfort food at Harajuku Crepes instead.

The Usual Offenders

It’s the start of another week, another day another dollar!

I had a pretty good weekend, fair to say that my highlight was that The Husband came home! After an 8 hour delay, I was at the airport with my palms sweating, butterflies in my stomach, full of excitement and nerves! 
It was like our first date all over again (which I was two hours late for…). 
Who would have thought that a month without seeing him could leave me feeling like that!

I was so excited to see him when he walked out of the international gates, and did a double take as he looked younger. His hair was due for a cut, he had lost weight and bulked up from daily gym sessions (who goes to America and actually comes back fitter?!) and believe me, I ran to him for that hug and kiss.

This was my airport outfit, consisting solely of Zara pieces, except my handbag and shoes.

These classic fit jeans were a fantastic find, they fit perfectly and don’t need to be taken up, which is a miracle for us short legged beings.

Don’t mind my awkward stance.

In order to get ready for his arrival I had the usual wax and threading, I even shaved my legs and slapped on some fake tan. The things we do.

I have never been able to have my 'lady waxing' and my other waxing done by the same people. I just cannot bear the thought of it. 

I had my brows threaded at Miss Fox as usual and as usual they are awesome. Even if threading is a bitch. 

I went to Zara with the girl known as cotton socks and we wound up in the children’s section and I walked out with a jacket for myself, who would have thought. 

I got this chanel-esque tweed jacket for about $45. I need to shop in the children’s section more often! 

Kids must be big these days.

OPI DS Temptation over China Glaze Senorita Bonita 

I got totally sucked in by one of those skincare booths in the middle of Melbourne Central.

I usually try and ignore them as I know that if I get sucked in to stopping, I’ll leave with a product.

The girl roped me in, and was so sweet and convincing that I couldn’t resist. Grrrr.

How do people resist them!?

I used to do promo stuff back in the day and every now and then would have the terrible job of handing out pamphlets or samples to people, so I feel guilty now if I don’t stop or grab whatever someone is offering.

This product (honey facial peel) felt pretty nice on my hand and actually exfoliated some skin that I didn’t know was on my supposedly moisturized hands, so I bought it.

I’ll report back on if it is any good.

I’m all for supporting Australian businesses too… but still!

It was $140 but I told her it was too expensive and she gave it to me for $100 plus a free lip balm which has actually been really good. $100 is still expensive so bloody hell it better be worth it. Sigh. 

I popped into a health store last week and said to the staff “I need either chlorophyll or chloroform but whichever is not the date rape drug” and it took a minute for the girls to stop laughing and point me in the right direction.

I had asked if it was okay to take as am hoping to conceive in the future, and then 5 minutes later she looked pointedly at my belly and asked how far along I was.

Hopefully she just heard me wrong and I didn’t look like I was pregnant. I had my peacock outfit on so perhaps need to suck it in or wear spanx.  

I have it in my water at work and it is pretty much tasteless, but it looks disgusting. Perhaps I’ll just suck it down straight next time.

Our apartment is still smelling amazing thanks to this little bad boy.

The Husband was so impressed with how clean and organized it is and then was even more impressed when I cooked him a roast dinner, all whilst wearing a cute frilly white apron. 

Such simple things yet they get me so far haha.

Considering the name of this blog, you would expect me to not be so domestically challenged but hey, what can you do. 

Amongst the presents that The Husband brought be back from America were 16 nail polishes that he picked out himself and then had to cart around the states, and this was one of them.

He picked out colors that I normally would not look twice at, and he did such a great job! I love them all.

I didn’t sleep through a full night once in the past month but having The Husband back has changed that, thankfully.

Apparently my comment form thing wasn’t working well over the weekend, so hopefully we are back in business now.

Lorna Jane & Berlei - Fitness {Video Post}

Thought that I would do a quick video post to answer a few questions that I get asked often such as "What do you wear when exercising" "What sports bras do you like" "What do you do to stay small" etc. 

I also have some lame workout tips in the video, ha. I'm not a professional so maybe don't follow my advice.

I think I might upload a video each Saturday if I can keep up with it!
I figure I will do Saturdays as it is easier for people to watch when at home rather than in the office. 

Why did it have to freeze on such a crazy face?! WHY, YouTube, WHY?!?! Me no crazy.

Late Nighter

Coming all the way from my iPhone, I bring you a drunk face photo. 

Went out on Saturday night with the standard offenders, Celeste and Vanessa to Loft to shake our groove thangs. I should learn by now that they are always running late (ahem, Celeste & Vanessa) so I started to drink Moscato on my own at home, and then I thought to myself, 'Hang on, am I an alcoholic now?! Isn't this what alcoholics do?! Drink on their own!?!' I calmed my self down by saying it was probably the second time in my life that I have ever drank on my own, ha. 

Since The Husband is away, I thought it was time for my green Kate Spade necklace to come out and play, since he is not it's biggest fan.

I wore these to go and get the said moscato and wished that I could wear them out.  They are from K-Mart and are awesome.

I don't know what is wrong with my body here but something is seriously distorted.

I have a massive calf, my stomach is being weird and my boobs look ginormous. Hmmm. 

I started the day by wearing my new Essie - Knock Out Pout which dries relatively matte until a top coat it put over it, but decided to swap it out for OPI - Black Onyx & Rainbow Connection.

I did the 1000 steps with work for a social club function on Sunday morning was really paid for it later. Not to mention the fact that I got lost and ended up on the wrong side of the damn mountain, no wonder I couldn't find the carpark. Need a Melways. 

It was the Orthodox Easter and I dragged my sorry self out of bed and went to the nearby Orthodox Church to light a candle or three, and it was shut!! Seriously. 4PM. Come on. I thought churches never close...

Rewarded my hungover self with pizza.

Cannot wait for him to get home later this week, I need someone to keep me warm at night. 

Went to sleep with wet hair last night and woke up looking like a poodle who had been through the washing machine one too many times.

When my hair is curly it is too short to put in a pony tail so I just pin the back bit up and let the sides go relatively wild. 

Embrace the curls, I say.

OzSale.com.au - iPad App {Video Review}

Who would have thought, my excessive spending habits would catch the attention of Lizzy at OzSale.com.au?! 

Well, then again - why am I surprised? I do spend money like it is going out of fashion, but I must say that I have been very good this past month. Budgeting like it is nobodies business, I tell you. 

I was lucky enough to be given an iPad from OzSale.com.au in order to be able to review the brand new iPad app which launched last Wednesday and I have done my very first video review on it!

Try to limit your laughter at my video, I don't have any form of video editing software so what you see is what you get. None of this chopping and editing business. 

I was so excited when the iPad arrived, and went straight to Vodafone, where a lovely young lad named Ambrose (I know, how often do you associate the word Lovely with Vodafone) helped me to tether it to my iPhone so that I could get cracking immediately. 

I wanted to do this video the night that I got it, but I needed to wait for a day when I would be home with natural sunlight. 

This is the home screen of the new OzSale iPad app which shows you six sales at one, as opposed to the three that are visible on the iPhone app.

Once again, the iPad app shows a hell of a lot more in one screen when compared to the iPhone, but I suppose that this is to be expected considering the screen is about six times as big. 

As I said in my video, the only previous negative to the iPhone app was the fact that you could not see brand, only the photo, as you were scrolling through but it was rectified in the update of the iPhone app and the new iPad app.

The app seems to run very quickly, and everything is really user friendly. 

Now, I need to get back to checking out that diamond sale I mentioned in my video post!!
