Moovin' and Groovin'

I've been on maternity leave for a week now but let me tell you, I have been a busy little beaver.

We settled on our new home last Thursday of course we have a lot of work to get done, and we are really feeling the pressure as my baby shower is to be held there in 2 weeks. Crap. 

We spent settlement night at the house by celebrating with fish n chips and tepid water in the scalding heat that Melbourne had thrown at us.

I was ready to go to postal at the electricity company as I had been told it had been connected and it wasn't until we were leaving two hours later that some bright spark suggested we look in the Meter box and what do you know - The Husband flicked a switch and then the electricity was on and the cool air was pumping in no time. 

We had been told by the selling agent that there were indeed floorboards under the carpet, but of course you cant go ripping up carpet before settlement so we had to take his word.

Let me tell you, that my friends, is not floorboards. It is chipboard. 

Okay so we don't have floorboards under the carpet - nothing to cry about.  We are now getting floating floorboards at an amazing price through a family friend, hurrah. 

Hopefully we have them installed this week as we are a bit behind in the moving in schedule.

This is the view from our bedroom window, which has a door and leads out to an out door dining area (you can sort of see the tiles here) but we are having the garden redone (there is more to the left and right) in a few weeks by Joseph who is in the landscaping bizz. 

I wanted it done by my baby shower but he just looked at me like I was insane in the membrane as we also have a back courtyard which needs may-jah work done so we will try and pretty it up before then and then do the serious stuff afterwards.

As you can see, I stay glamorous at all times.

It was shortly after this photo was taken that our new neighbor came to introduce himself, and it took me long enough to heave myself off the floor where I had been painting a window sill that I didn't even bother to make myself more presentable.

I went to Masters the other day in search of a wallpaper to do the inside of the nursery wardrobe in, and quite like this. It's not too busy and the colours are sweet for a young girl however do I go something neutral for down the track?!

This photo probably isn't the best representation but the whole house was painted in this bloody yellow and we didn't even realise how deep it ran until it came time to paint.

The Husband and his parents put in the hard yards, bless their hearts, and have done all of the wall and ceiling painting whilst I have attempted to do some skirting boards, door frames and window sills (all non toxic paint, don't worry) but my body isn't what it used to be and The Husband is worried that I am over doing it.

It is definitely satisfying to stand back and admire the hard work that gets done with painting though.

Why didn't I tape the glass? Why?!

We've painted the house in Dulux Lexicon Quarter (thanks to Lass Creative for her suggestion when I was overwhelmed by all the shades of white out there) which has turned out perfectly, it's crisp white and has blue undertones which we are loving. 

The skirting is the same, but glossy and the ceiling is plain ol' Dulux Ceiling White. 

You know what else is fun? Putting cutlery in the cutlery drawer.  I still haven't decided the best layout.

We have about 8 massively wide drawers now which is 4 more than the apartment and twice as wide and deep. Hallelujah.

I got these double walled glasses from OzSale for a steal as I had some vouchers to use up. 

Remember these glasses that I got ages ago? Well, the tumbler version just popped up on Mumgo so I got them too. 

They are already nestled in their new cupboard in our kitchen. 

I have been hoarding stuff for years for 'the new house' so it is nice to finally be cracking it open. 

Anyway, I am drained and we have more painting to do bright and early tomorrow.

I'll try and blog more as a week between posts is a bit rough, but bare with me.

This is my mantra.

A bow will make everything better, not to mention cuter.

The Husband still doesn't understand why I like to wrap a ribbon under my bust, he doesn't know what it feels like to mourn the loss of a waist, ha. 

Apparently people are concerned for my diet because I post lots of photos of cake, dumplings and me eating out not to mention my well documented hatred for salads.

Don’t worry though, I eat at least 5 fruits per day and disguise vegetables in my meals. I just didn't think people want to see photos of fruit and veggies – cake is much cuter. 

This is what a standard 2:30 snack looks like for me.

We ate these on Melbourne Cup Day and whilst The Husband calls them Cocktail Frankfurts, I call them Little Boys.  I think my mum does too.

The Husband thinks this is weird, and wrong. 

We also ate dip.

I tried to fancy up our living room picnic by putting them in Royal Doulton serving bowls as opposed to eating them out of the package but got lazy when it came to the crackers.

At least I tried. 

Stopped at the flower stall on Swanston Street on Monday and picked up some Peonies and Tulips (both $20 a bunch) to brighten up the apartment.

The Peonies exploded and are in full bloom but the tulips are going great guns and have not even started to droop yet.

I have them in individual bud vases (and coke bottles) in about 5cm of water and put a pin prick about 3cm from the top of stem.  This seems to have worked well so far for me. 

I love recycling glass drink bottles to be used for bud vases, but The Husband hates it. He often sees me slyly slip a glass bottle in to my handbag after he has finished drinking from it. 

Isn't our ironing board cover ugly? It is an improvement from the floral one he had when I first met him at least.  I have found some very cute chevron ones on etsy which will be purchased and put to use in our new home.

I hoard everything for the new home.  Cannot wait to leave all our furniture behind and start fresh. 

I also want to try this out by our outside dining area. 

I’ve been trying to find cute baby shower invites, but don’t want anything too baby-ish and am going for a floral feel so have been looking at PDF Bridal Shower ones instead so they can be changed.

The bottom left is my favourite so far.  

I am going for a pretty casual affair but lots of flowers for decor. 

We are going to have it at the new house so it may be a bit of a squish to fit everyone inside if it is raining but time will tell.

I could not resist these socks, booties and bibs that are on sale at Oz Sale at the moment.

I only have one pair of booties so far so these were needed.

Not like the 29 onesies I seem to have accumulated for 3-9 month old. I know, weird huh.

BUT half are from America and they are huge, basically the same size as my 12 month+ stuff. 

Raina has these Mary Jane socks and I just adore them!

Also could not resist the dog socks.

The Husband chose to ignore me when I showed them to him, but if he wont let me get a puppy then puppy socks are the next best thing, surely?! 

Thanks to those that have used my OzSale invite link (found here) in the past fortnight as I had a few vouchers so got this so order ridiculously cheap it was practically free. 

I have been looking for this Kookai dress for over a month now, and this Kookai cardigan went missing over 6 months back.

Do you think I could find either of them anywhere? No.

Of course, today I am grabbing a dress from my “worn once but still clean pile” and taa daa there they both were.

I think that The Husband has been harbouring them.

I hardly look pregnant in this front on photo. See, black is slimming.

I've paired the all black ensemble with a necklace from G.E.D for a pop of brightness and to take away attention from my under eye bags from the 3 hours sleep I get these days - preparing me for my future I suppose.

It’s nearly the weekend.

I’ll drink to that. Well, perhaps I wont. Water and apple juice it is. 

Home Owner At Last!!

At last, I am a home owner!

I really did think that we would be in our apartment for ever, and have 3 kids in bunk beds in the one room, ha.

So, last week I inspected a property in Bayside, then The Husband went to have a look during the week.  He gave me the A-OK, which is rare as we have very different tastes in dwellings.

The auction was on Saturday and being Super Saturday there was a large number of people there which scared me a little.  We had decided on our cut off line (well, The Husband had told me our cut off line as I am not to be trusted with such decisions) and as the bidding got under way in $20,000 increments our limit was hit very quickly and we hadn't even got a bid in.

Of course, I thought that it was all over red rover for us.  The Husband was on the road and I was safely on the footpath out of potential harms way so I couldn't even nudge him with disappointment, and nearly fell over in shock when he put a bid in at the final call of the sale for someone else.  

A few bids went back and forth and then I heard the tell tale Blackberry email ping, and looked over to see The Husband checking his emails during the bidding, come on – attention please.

After the auctioneer  had a quick meeting with the vendor, he called his ‘first call.....second call’ and I swear I have never felt time move slower. At the SOLD call, they let of this massive thing full of confetti – scaring everyone half to death with the bang.  I couldn't believe it – we just bought a house!!

We went in to sign the contracts and The Husbands hands were still shaking from the mixture of his triple shot coffee and adrenalin so I took the pen and was filling out the contracts, and had a moment of “Do I put my name down? Do I own it too?” haha, so silly.

This photo was taken before the auction, a bubble blower was a good talking point – very cute.

Our settlement takes place January 25, which is also the day I start maternity leave so I will be 33 weeks pregnant and nesting will well and truly have taken over.

We need to paint, rip up the carpets for the floorboards etc before moving in but nothing major or that will take too long. 

I've been googling laundry and general storage ideas like a mad woman. 

We will definitely need to have a washer and dryer stacked on top of  each other for maximum space saving.

I love the presentation of these Murchison Hume products. I have been told that Method is better, I may get both to compare and review for you.

I got these yoyos from David Jones food court and the shortbread bit tasted like cardboard. 

Sunday morning I went to pick up my lovely friend Laura from the airport and drove her to the Peninsula where we had this amazing breakfast.

When it arrived, an old man stopped at the table and said “You cant finish that!!”. Well, I showed you.

This isn't a normal dinner plate either, this is on a serving plate and it was just for little ol’ me. 

I woke up to a message from Cottonsocks this morning informing me of super duper cheap Missoni baby wear on Ozsale.

I had already banned myself from buying more baby clothes but who can resist a mega bargain, not me anyway.

I picked up these 4 items, I could have found a lot more but self restraint kicked in eventually.

Look at this cute Pure Baby one! I have so many Pure Baby clothes already as when they are on sale they are dirt cheap.  I got them all in neutral colours like white and grey though so that they can do double duty when No.2 comes along, or if No.1 pops out a boy haha. 

I received an email asking me to do a YouTube Baby Clothes Haul video - is there much interest in something like that though?

OzSale.com.au - iPad App {Video Review}

Who would have thought, my excessive spending habits would catch the attention of Lizzy at OzSale.com.au?! 

Well, then again - why am I surprised? I do spend money like it is going out of fashion, but I must say that I have been very good this past month. Budgeting like it is nobodies business, I tell you. 

I was lucky enough to be given an iPad from OzSale.com.au in order to be able to review the brand new iPad app which launched last Wednesday and I have done my very first video review on it!

Try to limit your laughter at my video, I don't have any form of video editing software so what you see is what you get. None of this chopping and editing business. 

I was so excited when the iPad arrived, and went straight to Vodafone, where a lovely young lad named Ambrose (I know, how often do you associate the word Lovely with Vodafone) helped me to tether it to my iPhone so that I could get cracking immediately. 

I wanted to do this video the night that I got it, but I needed to wait for a day when I would be home with natural sunlight. 

This is the home screen of the new OzSale iPad app which shows you six sales at one, as opposed to the three that are visible on the iPhone app.

Once again, the iPad app shows a hell of a lot more in one screen when compared to the iPhone, but I suppose that this is to be expected considering the screen is about six times as big. 

As I said in my video, the only previous negative to the iPhone app was the fact that you could not see brand, only the photo, as you were scrolling through but it was rectified in the update of the iPhone app and the new iPad app.

The app seems to run very quickly, and everything is really user friendly. 

Now, I need to get back to checking out that diamond sale I mentioned in my video post!!

Glasses. Capes. Nails. Tributes

Looky, looky. I have glasses.

 It has been about 9 years since I last wore my glasses and my eyesight has deteriorated to a noticeable degree in the last 6 months. I drive past streets because I can't read the sign until it is about to smack me in the face, I have to walk up and down each shopping aisle as I cannot read the signs telling me what is where etc. 

Decided it was finally time to go and have my eyes checked. Discovered that yes, my eyes are on the decline and it was time to order some specs. 

Enter my new glasses.

Chanel 3131 Black on Beige glasses. 

The arms and inner are beige which makes them look a bit softer on my face. Win. 

I've already been told that I look like a sexy secretary. Well, don't mind if I do. 

I didn't want anything that screamed a brand name, so these and their subtle Chanel flower are perfection. 

Gross, I seem to have lost my eyebrow in this photo. 

I have my next threading appointment with Miss Fox this week. Thank goodness! 4 weeks between eyebrow maintenance has me looking like Oscar the Grouch. It's not pretty. At all. 

Here is Tuesdays outfit. I still love this vintage dress, even if I did pair it with hair greasy enough to fry an egg on. Mmmm speaking of eggs, I would love a googy egg and soldiers right now. 

My Essie order from OzSale arrived! Hurrah!! At $5 a bottle I really wish that I had of ordered more., dammit!!

I have Luxedo on at the moment and I love it. I don't normally go for dark colours but am really glad I got this. It is almost black, but more of a licorice or deep plum. 

I had OPI Meep Meep Meep on last weekend but it looks like crap in these photos. You will just have to take my word on it that it is nice. Not amazing, not terrible, just nice. 

St Patricks Day. Lots of drunken fools running around dressed as leprechauns and a good excuse to wear an otherwise questionable mint green polish!

In other news, I have a new cape!! I picked up this Seduce Cape at Myer today after seeing it yesterday and falling in love with it. I could only try on the black one yesterday and was running around scaring Kitty, who said I looked like a Vampire.

Not even a sexy Edward Cullen vampire,but more of a Dracula style vampire.

The white cape is a winner though. I tried it on quickly with some Kate Sylvester pants which were awesome but not awesome enough for $295!! Sheesh. 

I'm really looking forward to putting this cape with a better outfit. I'm thinking jeans and tan boots. 

Maybe a garlic garland too. Undecided. 

I tried on these Fuschia YSL Tributes and love them. If anyone feels the desire to buy them for me, I will not deny you this privilege.  I wear a 36. Thanks. 

Crap it is 10:23PM. I need to go to bed. I have a bed time of 10:30 and I am pushing it!! Goodnight.
