Giant Raspberry Over Here!!!

First things first, wow – I was not expecting such a massive response to the previous Secret Squirrel Post.

I have received a dozen comments saying that their original comments did not get approved but I can assure you that they were all approved yet blogger appears to have had a slight melt down and if you don’t press ‘load more’ a billion times then you don’t get to see them all.

I tried to reply to them all but my replies are not coming up, something has gone wrong in the info tech land I think.

Anyway, Friday night I headed to Myer to try and find an outfit for Stakes Day on Saturday as I felt like a bit of a blob in all my current outfits.  It was basically a fruitless effort.

I bought a raspberry pink dress from Anthea Crawford and as I swiped my credit card I regretted it instantly, after all – why would I buy a $300 dress when I have one the exact same colour at home and I don't even love it.

I still bought it as was slightly too embarrassed to cancel the transaction and returned it on Sunday.
The lady did everything but sniff the arm pits as she must have thought I was shady but come on, it was still in the tissue paper.

She grilled me over why I didn’t want it too. All I could say was “I felt like a giant raspberry”.

I ended up wearing this Kookai dress, worn back to front so that I did not have cleavage on display, paired with my white (well, was once white) Zara jacket and a headband that I wore to Stakes Day last year (as seen in this post) with an Alannah Hill brooch stuck on it to match the pink slightly.

I was up at 7am to get ready as being part of the Social Club Committee meant that I had duties to perform other than turning up and binge eating.

I curled my hair and marvelled at the fake tan job provided by The Husband the night before, and headed out to pick up the catering only to be met by moisture in the air and instant frizz.

Let me tell you, the smell of cabana in my car was enough to send any pregnant lady over the edge. I wanted to eat it so bad, I just couldn't.

I had zero intentions of taking off my Zara jacket as I thought it ‘made’ my outfit and plus, the weather was meant to be a cool 20 degrees with showers.  Of course I am in Melbourne and we know that Mike Larkin is not to be trusted.  I actually came home with a sun burn.

Who would have thought?

We had a great day but going to the races is not the same when you are pregnant, uncomfortable and sober.

I had to turn into Kitty’s good conscious and demand that she did not drink any more champagne until she had some water.

I wore sandals, because of course I am not silly, so at least my feet didn't hurt. Success!

Where else would I be other than one of the many snack tables?

I actually did take photos of the catering but it’s on my real camera and I don’t have the energy to bend over and plug it in. Just imagine sandwiches, tarts, chicken, brownies and the like.

The best part was driving in and parking in the members car park so I could leave whenever I wanted, which happened to be at 4PM after collecting my $120 of winnings.

Well, The Husbands winnings seeing as I only placed the bets for him but still – what is his is mine, or so they tell me.

I am sometimes like Paul the Octopus when it comes to betting.

Anywho, good day had by all.  I think my racing carnival days have come to an end though.

The Usual Offenders

It’s the start of another week, another day another dollar!

I had a pretty good weekend, fair to say that my highlight was that The Husband came home! After an 8 hour delay, I was at the airport with my palms sweating, butterflies in my stomach, full of excitement and nerves!
It was like our first date all over again (which I was two hours late for…).
Who would have thought that a month without seeing him could leave me feeling like that!

I was so excited to see him when he walked out of the international gates, and did a double take as he looked younger. His hair was due for a cut, he had lost weight and bulked up from daily gym sessions (who goes to America and actually comes back fitter?!) and believe me, I ran to him for that hug and kiss.

This was my airport outfit, consisting solely of Zara pieces, except my handbag and shoes.
These classic fit jeans were a fantastic find, they fit perfectly and don’t need to be taken up, which is a miracle for us short legged beings.

Don’t mind my awkward stance.

In order to get ready for his arrival I had the usual wax and threading, I even shaved my legs and slapped on some fake tan. The things we do.
I have never been able to have my 'lady waxing' and my other waxing done by the same people. I just cannot bear the thought of it.
I had my brows threaded at Miss Fox as usual and as usual they are awesome. Even if threading is a bitch.

I went to Zara with the girl known as cotton socks and we wound up in the children’s section and I walked out with a jacket for myself, who would have thought.
I got this chanel-esque tweed jacket for about $45. I need to shop in the children’s section more often!
Kids must be big these days.

Essie - Lovey Dovey
This one belongs to Kitty, but I feel the urge to buy it.

This was my Peacock outfit last week.

Luxx Dress
Alannah Hill Belt
OPI DS Temptation over China Glaze Senorita Bonita

I got totally sucked in by one of those skincare booths in the middle of Melbourne Central.
I usually try and ignore them as I know that if I get sucked in to stopping, I’ll leave with a product.

The girl roped me in, and was so sweet and convincing that I couldn’t resist. Grrrr.
How do people resist them!?
I used to do promo stuff back in the day and every now and then would have the terrible job of handing out pamphlets or samples to people, so I feel guilty now if I don’t stop or grab whatever someone is offering.

This product (honey facial peel) felt pretty nice on my hand and actually exfoliated some skin that I didn’t know was on my supposedly moisturized hands, so I bought it.
I’ll report back on if it is any good.

I’m all for supporting Australian businesses too… but still!

It was $140 but I told her it was too expensive and she gave it to me for $100 plus a free lip balm which has actually been really good. $100 is still expensive so bloody hell it better be worth it. Sigh.

I popped into a health store last week and said to the staff “I need either chlorophyll or chloroform but whichever is not the date rape drug” and it took a minute for the girls to stop laughing and point me in the right direction.

I had asked if it was okay to take as am hoping to conceive in the future, and then 5 minutes later she looked pointedly at my belly and asked how far along I was.
Hopefully she just heard me wrong and I didn’t look like I was pregnant. I had my peacock outfit on so perhaps need to suck it in or wear spanx.

I have it in my water at work and it is pretty much tasteless, but it looks disgusting. Perhaps I’ll just suck it down straight next time.

Our apartment is still smelling amazing thanks to this little bad boy.
The Husband was so impressed with how clean and organized it is and then was even more impressed when I cooked him a roast dinner, all whilst wearing a cute frilly white apron.
Such simple things yet they get me so far haha.

Considering the name of this blog, you would expect me to not be so domestically challenged but hey, what can you do.

Amongst the presents that The Husband brought be back from America were 16 nail polishes that he picked out himself and then had to cart around the states, and this was one of them.
Sephora by OPI – Mermaid to Order.

He picked out colors that I normally would not look twice at, and he did such a great job! I love them all.

I didn’t sleep through a full night once in the past month but having The Husband back has changed that, thankfully.

Apparently my comment form thing wasn’t working well over the weekend, so hopefully we are back in business now.

Pre Ceremony Traditions

I don't have many photos to share with you as yet, but thought that I would start with some photos from our pre-ceremony traditions that were held in the hall next to the church..

The weather held up all morning, and then as our limo pulled up at the doors, it started to rain. Luckily our gracious groomsman Ab, and the chauffeur were quick as a flash to get the umbrella for me.

We were running behind schedule, and S had to leave the hall when we were 5 minutes away and wait in the church the entire time so that he would see me.

I love this photo of me entering the hall with Geefa. We had not discussed how we were going to do this, but Geefa grabbed my hand and walked me in.

I was so nervous, I could feel my heart pounding all over my body. When I walked in, everyone turned and looked at me and I just waved and said "yo" when I was standing on the steps, hahaha, such a loser.

As you can see, I added a pink Alannah Hill sash to my dress for this part of the day, so that guests would think this was my dress, and then they were surprised when I entered the ceremony in big bertha.
My gorgeous flower girl, Ashleigh-Rose!

When we walked in, the first person I saw was my friend Sam and I was so greatful that she was standing there as I rushed up and gave her a kiss, instead of standing there with all these people staring at me.

When I finally saw my Mother in Law, I was ushered to a seat on the long table, and told to just sit there, eat, and smile for the photos.

All of the guests got up and were just taking photos of me, without saying anything to me, I was so awkward I just kept grinning and saying "hi!!".

I was too nervous to eat or drink, but there was an amazing spread put out.

Cristina & I

Me asking my kum what I should do, and she told me to just sit there and enjoy, which we did. She has been so much help to me!

My Mum and my Mother in Law.

After we had sat down for a while, and photos had been taken it was time for me to be taken up on stage and the buying of the bride commenced.

My brothers really let the power go to their heads, and were playing it up like there was no tomorrow. It was a lot of fun.

After that was done, our groomsman told me he had 2 missed calls from S, and that we need to move over to the church...

I had all the guests move to the church, and then I got changed into my Ceremony dress....

To be Continued...
