The Husband does a Birthday Dash

Yesterday The Husband turned the ripe ol' age of 33.

I had cupcakes delivered to him at work for his 31st birthday and he was embarrassed so I gave it a miss last year  but was not going to let him go cupcakeless this year! I only decided to have them sent yesterday morning and could not find anyone to deliver them, until I discovered The Cupcake Queens who had them delivered within a few hours of talking with me.

When I was buying this card, I handed the news agency dude the exact right amount of money and he looks at me and says "Now, you do know that this is a more expensive card compared to others don't you?".
Yes. Look at your hand. I gave you the right money, meaning I know exactly how much it retails for.
I think he was implying that I could not afford a $13 card. Weird.

Whilst I have only seen The Husband use a BBQ once, I could not resist buying this 3D card.

Once again, he was embarrassed but not too embarrassed to cut the cupcakes in half, share them around the office and forget to save any for his lovely wife.

To celebrate his birthday, and also his farewell as he left for America for a month today, I took him out to dinner at Ishiya Japanese Stonegrill, which is where we went to celebrate out 4th anniversary and if you are looking for extra ways to procrastinate, you can read that blog post here .

Dinner was originally going to be at 8:30 so when I got home at 6 I had a light meal, so when The Husband decided to come home early and go out to dinner at 7:30, my stomach was not where it needed to be. I was full before we even got there. Keep that on the down low though.

Lychee Martini.
Don't mind if I do.

The Husband said I look like a little Mouse who eats cheese all day.

The eating cheese all day part is correct.

Same but different, no?

If you follow me on Twitter and Facebook (and if you don't, why not?) you will know how sad I am today!
It sounds silly, but I have never been apart from The Husband for more than a few days, and now that he has left for a month I am so down!

When he walked through the International Departure Gates, I waited for him to turn around and wave, but he didn't and I just burst into tears whilst standing there. Damn, I burst into tears just writing this.

I felt so sad and empty driving back from the airport and rang him before he boarded but was still so sad.
Then, the killer came.
He pressed send on an email just before take off, detailing his life insurance policy and all of our finances and what to do in case something happens to him. Bring on the tears, once again.
I know that he is just being responsible, after all, he is a Financial Adviser, but still. It just filled my head with so many terrible thoughts of something happening to him. Enter - Freak Out.

I don't know how so many people do long distance relationships, or deal with partners who travel for long periods of times. Don't even get me started on my respect for Army Wives will you??

I'll try not to be too emotional.

I've never lived on my own. Thank goodness for Lite n Easy or I might waste away to nothing.

I have grand plans of lots of at home spa treatments, dinners and lunches with friends, girly movie marathons and eating Lite n Easy in bed, on his side of the bed at that.

So, does your partner travel a lot? What do you do to fill the time?
