Scans & Cooking

I'm just putting it out there, but I am sure that there is a chunk of my readers who have zero interest in baby posts so I am apologizing in advance. That is all I seem to have at the moment!!

I spent Saturday folding baby clothes that I had purchased whilst at Mother Care in Bali and also ordered from Macy’s online (note: Macy’s quality wasn't quite what I was expecting) and filling up a 28L box as they had just been in their shopping bags on the desk. I thought they deserved a safer, cleaner home.

How adorable is this bunny that Merowyn got for the baby!

The first baby gifts that I received were from Cotton Socks, the books ‘What to Expect when your Expecting’ and ‘Up The Duff’. I only have these two baby books, and ‘French Children Don’t Throw Food’ on my iPhone.

The second baby gift that I got were two pairs of newborn mittens with grey birds on them from my sister Cat, adorable.

I know that I shouldn’t buy too many baby clothes as will receive many as gifts and at baby shower (when should I have a baby shower? I was thinking January, and am due early March) but they are so adorable.

At least with having to buy gender neutral stuff, I can restrain myself because I want the baby to have gender specific clothes after it is born!

I had a bit of a fright on Sunday morning when I woke up and had a little bit of bleeding after using the bathroom.  I ran in to wake The Husband up and was practically inconsolable.

I have never seen him move so quick.  He quickly paged my obstetrician who rang back within a minute and had a good chat with The Husband where I could hear them both laughing, but The Husband knew that I would not take his word for it so put me on the phone to my OB and he talked me off the ledge by telling me that it was all going to be okay and to not be too concerned but to take it easy for the rest of the day and come in for a scan the next morning.

During my scan it was revealed that I have a very low placenta, but that The Baby is 100% healthy and will not be affected by this, however if it doesn't move I may not be able to have a vaginal birth which is what I was hoping for.  They will continue to monitor me with extra scans and hopefully the placenta gets higher and doesn't become placenta previa.

At the end of the day, if I need to have a caesarian then so be it. As much as I want to try a vaginal birth, I don’t care enough to let is get me down, as long as my baby comes out safely and healthy!

I had to go to the bathroom half way through the appointment to get ready for an internal scan, and when I came back the doctor said “So, your husband says you want to know the sex of the baby?”.
The Husband was stuttering all over the place at my reaction, which was “NO!!”.  He said that he just asked if shehad been able to tell the sex and she said she wasn't looking so would have to do the scan again.  I don’t want to know the sex so we did not find out, but The Husband is 100% certain that it is a girl, otherwise she would have seen a doodle hahaha.

I am dead set driving myself insane over not finding out the gender. 90% of the time I know this is what I want but then I have a freak out and go a little bit crazy.  I slink over to Kitty's desk and bang my head on her wall about it.

I went out to dinner with my friend Susan on Tuesday and couldn't resist ordering a starter before she got there.  I was ravenous and finished it before she arrived.

I love peanut satay.  I practically lick the plate clean.

Melbourne has had some really beautiful weather lately so I have been taking advantage of it and strolling home after work.

When I say strolling, I really mean strolling. People overtake me left right and centre.

I snapped these photos on Wednesday, if I take out the murky Yarra River and the city skyline, I am practically back on holiday in Bali.

I don’t think my belly is really this big, it’s just the Birds Eye View.

The Husband and I call our baby ‘Nelson’ because the first time he spoke to my belly I responded, as the baby, in a voice that was deemed to sound like Nelson from The Simpsons – however, it has now been found to actually sound like Ralph but we are attached to Nelson now.

We have zero intentions of actually naming the baby Nelson, we already have our names picked out, but I fear that I will be far too attached to Nelson and call the baby that for the rest of its life, just like how I am forever known as Poppet.

I made Bruschetta with Argentinean Avocado Chimichurri as a starter to my Bolognese on Wednesday night. I first had this when we went to visit the beautiful Sally and she prepared it and I proclaimed instant love for it.

You will need:-

2 ripe avocados, cubed
¼ red onion, finely sliced
2 tbsp chopped fresh chopped coriander (I used the one in a tube)
2 tbsp chopped fresh chopped mint (once again, used the lazy option of a tube)
1 tbsp honey
2 tbsp red wine vinegar
Dollop of Tabasco (or you can use fresh chopped chilies)
Sea salt & freshly ground pepper to taste
Olive oil spray
1 baguette, sliced on the angle (I used sour dough baguette as that is my preference)

Toss the avocado with the red onion, coriander, mint, honey, red wine vinegar, Tabasco and seasonings until well combined. Taste for seasoning.

Spray both sides of the bread with oil and grill until golden.

Mound the Chimichurri on each piece of bread and serve!

As easy and delicious as it gets.

The Husband was rather shocked to find not only Bolognese simmering on the stove, but also a starter waiting for him when he got home.

He is hoping that this is his future when I am home with the baby! I feel like his future is actually coming home to a messy house with me on the floor surrounded by filth..... just joking.....

This would have actually been enough for my dinner as it was a warm night and the Bolognese was pretty heavy.  The Husband on the other side ate 7 bruschetta slices and 2 bowls of spaghetti. That boy can eat.

As you can see, my hair has not been done for weeks. I even had to buy a new hair brush because my little round one could not get through my matted curls.

This dress is from Target, non maternity. It would be cuter without a belly, but such is life, or so they tell me.

I have been wearing these Sandler wedges for 2 weeks straight at work and they are still not broken in.

I seem to go on and off fruit a lot now.  I have apples and mandarins in my drawer at work but cannot even stomach the thought.

My drawer is also full of Cheds, chocolate muesli bars and lots more fun stuff.

I had to buy baby powder from 7/11 today to hopefully put an end to my chafing woes.

I thought I would have to be bigger than what I am for my thighs to be chafing at the top, but apparently not.

This bad boy is going to be a permanent addition to my handbag I am guessing.  My fellow awesome instagram people tell me paw paw, roll on deodorants and bike shorts can also help.

I got annoyed in my preggibellies class yesterday, the instructor was putting new moves into the routine but didn't take the time to show us how they are actually done. This really bothers me for some reason.

In other news, I have my first Early Birthing Class on the weekend and was advised that there are no males allowed.  I am definitely intrigued.
