I master Polyvore & The Nursery to date.

I have mastered Polyvore.

I admit, I did need help and kikialakiki on twitter helped my feeble mind sort it out. I blame baby brain.

This is how our nursery is coming along so far. We have everything under control except for the map.

I am not sure if I want to get a framed pink map like the one below or whether it is just too much pink? It would be on a wall on its own at least.  I love the idea of a map and hopefully the baby would grow up to be far better at geography than her mother.

I am also having the Ice Cream mobile made for me at the moment by an etsy seller, so fingers crossed it turns out great. I want it in lighter pastel colours and will probably hang above the change table rather than above the cot. 

The four images in the top right hand corner are all A4 sized prints that I have purchased and will be put in nice white frames to be hung on the wall. 

The Deer frame and money box will go on a little white shelf, away from the pink.

I would love a rug like this one from My First Room but is $500 odd crazy expensive or have I just never bought a rug before?

Anyway, they are my plans to date.

I am going to be covering the shelves in the wardrobe in nice wallpaper to spruce them up a little too. A mirror on the inside of the wardrobe door is a must too.

I figure that our cot and change table is gender neutral so when/if a boy comes along we can just interchange the smaller details around the rooms and make it boy friendly.

Nursery Inspiration

You must be sick of my pregnancy related posts by now! Not long to go my pretties and then the posts will be about being exhausted, stretch marks, poo on the walls and what not. Get ready.

Here are some nurseries that I have saved along the way, most being from before I was even up the duff, so I don’t have their sources sorry.

I love this nursery but I cannot see it as being my own, there is a lot going on with the flower pom pom things. That armoire is to die for.

My mum already got me an antique brentwood rocking chair which I will have sanded and repainted, with cushions. 

I love the walls, carpet and couch in here. 

Cute as cute. I feel like DIY'ing one of these just for the sake of it. 

This buffet thing is amazing. 

I remember reading that it was restored and the duck egg blue paint used to bring it to life. This, I can see me as having but we have no room for such a thing, so maybe in our next house!

I get dizzy thinking about watching this fan whilst turned on.

P.S - I never knew that Smit was an actual first name. Oh the knowledge that I am lacking.

I think a chest is crucial for a room or living room. Growing up, I had a white wicker one which matched my bed head and bed side table and they just fit so much in there, an easy way to make a room clean in an instant if you ask me, ha.

And then I start to think, do I just go completely neutral.

I cannot fault this nursery at all.

The mirror in the corner is a great way to make this room look bigger, you can tell it is in an apartment building. I think that by putting the small book shelf where they have is quite clever also but I am going to utilise the walls and have floating shelves put in. 

This nursery is fresh to death. Look at all that natural light too! 

So crisp. I just sigh looking at it. 

I think neutral is the way for me but with a touch of pale pink. I'm not really into hot pink decor.

Our nursery is not as big as these rooms, it is a standard 3 x 3 room but since we are putting the day bed in there a lot of space is eaten up. 

I think I will put nice mirrors on the wardrobe doors so that the rooms seems a little bigger.

We thought we would just do white, yellow and grey (or yellow white and purple for LA Lakers according to The Husband) but now I am over that and plus,  knowing that it is a girl gives me more options.

Wreaths make me happy. 

I think it is because it reminds me of the Christmas wreath that my mum always hung on our front door, which was a big double white door.

Oh! The serenity of it all. 

I like the Moroccan pouffes a lot but they seem expensive. $200 odd just for decoration but they are cute.

Now this is a moses basket! I remember reading on the post about this that it belonged to the father of the baby, it looks perfect. 

I think this blog post has convinced me to go rather neutral even though this is what I was going to do all along.

I seem to have a thing for these iron cribs also.

The Giraffe head on the wall has me thinking two things:

1. Cute as hell

2. Creepy as hell

Oh, little girls clothes are beautiful. 

I have already picked out the art work, cushions and what not but am not going to share them with you until they are in the actual nursery - I need to leave some things as a surprise. Be grateful you didn't get a shot of my pregnancy test, I am known to over share!!

White Furniture

It has come to my attention that I really do have a strange love of white furniture.

Not all white furniture though, I don't have much love for the glossy variety.

I don't think we had too much white furniture growing up, but my bedroom furniture was definitely white, white wicker at that! So here is my love for white furniture, waving a little white flag and declaring awesomeness.

I have been searching furniture websites like there is tomorrow. I have determined that I have rather neutral and simple tastes and that what is in my head does not always exist in real life.

The Husband may have given me the side eye when I announced that the majority of my favourite furniture is actually from Ikea.  I don’t think he likes the sounds of this, but if we cant find it elsewhere why wouldn't we go to Ikea? Cheap and cheerful I say.I haven't had a piece break on me yet.

Little kids are just going to draw on it anyway if I remember my own childhood. 

Maybe he knows that I am the Master Builder in our marriage and will be out of action so he may need to build, but Ikea have people who can build it for you!

I think that a coffee table will be one of our last purchases though as our couch is already on the huge side, and our lounge is not.  We will see if we can ever fit one in otherwise will have to get side tables instead.

I like the idea of this one though as you can put pretty coffee table books in the drawer and look at them through the glass rather than on top of the glass. 

Ikea Liatorp Glass Cabinet

I want a glass cabinet of some type to house our special objects such as the ‘good’ dining setting, cutlery, wine glasses, tea cups etc etc – you get the drill.

I think I really need to see them in real life though to determine the quality.  Freedom have one that I adore but I hate the colour wash of it. 

I would like to put some different handles on these also. If you have seen these elsewhere, please drop me a comment!! 

Hemnes Glass Door Cabinet with Drawers

We are going to need more storage in the laundry too, I adore these being used for a linen cupboard and like to think that it force me to have a neat area but who am I kidding. I only use fitted sheets and cannot fold them nicely for the life of me.

Am unsure about getting a sideboard or TV unit, I think that we will have our TV mounted on the wall but I guess you need to put your DVD player and DVD's etc somewhere.

That's one I need to ponder further I suppose...

I don't need these chairs because we have a dining setting already but I think I may buy 2 just to have randomly as I adore them. Maybe if we put a study desk in then they would work.

I do however need stools for the bench and these are the cutest I have seen. Will of course need little cushions on them but so be it.

Our bedroom has a walk in wardrobe but The Husband has graciously offered to let me have it and he will use a separate one which we need to buy. I think that both our clothes can fit in the walk in as I am culling a lot but he clearly thinks my clothes are contagious and if he rubs his lovely stuff against mine it may turn polyester. 

As he has so many shirts we need the wardrobe to have two rails, but if we don't get an Ikea one we may look at having a custom one built which will probably work out better as can have a section for his ties and what not but I have no idea how much such a thing would cost.

Life with so many clothes must be exhausting.

I love the idea of a big mirror leaning against the wall but I don't think it is that safe - so maybe we will have one hanging and fixed to the wall properly.

For some reason I am so incredibly excited about decorating the fire place mantle.

I want a big mirror above it, and have already selected some silver Vera Wang frames (gifts from our wedding) and candle sticks to go on it. 

We need to decide which photos to put in the frames, but I am thinking family shots from our wedding would be nice.

Now, the house is quite old and doesn't have much storage in the bathroom so I was thinking I would either get a ladder shelf or the Hemnes shelves and put nice baskets on them so that we can have towels, products etc nicely presented.

I will need to measure the space that is left to decide on this though.

I really do love the look of these shelves actually. Plain and neutral. 

I am all for rolling my towels as opposed to folding them - how about you?

We are yet to see an outdoor setting that we love and white will be a pain to keep clean so we are still looking.

Am hoping to find this and buy our white goods in the Boxing Day Sales!

I think I love white furniture because you are not limited the the colours in your art work, rugs, flowers, cushions and all that other random stuff that accumulates around a house. 

So - what are your favourite furniture stores? I do admit that if I cannot see it on the website first, I usually cannot be bothered schlepping to the shops - especially with my belly weighing me down now.
