I picked up these Press & Go nails from Priceline last night, after seeing Lashes & Lattes feature them on her blog.
I’m not good enough at nail art to even attempt to try something complex, using a bobby pin to do polka dots is as advanced as I get, but had not worn press on nails since I was 12.
I actually remember where I was when I applied the nails when I was 12.
I was on the Devil Cat with my mum, on our way to Tasmania. I pressed them on and about 5 minutes later was struck by horrendous sea sickness and could not even hold a glass of water properly because of the damn nails.
They came off about 20 minutes after application, and it has taken 11 years to brave them again. I cant help it, they remind me of being sea sick!
For history’s sake, my mum went back to Melbourne on the Devil Cat with the car and I was flown back alone so that I would not have to endure that sea sickness again!!
Anyway, the Press & Go nails were $14.99 from Priceline.
I had to cut my nails short as they were longer than the press on nails, and then find the right sizes for each nail. This took about 10 minutes as you need to ensure that the same finger for both hands has the same print on it, as they are all different.
The print that I chose is called TGIF.
The pack comes with a sterile prep pad thingy which I used to clean my nails after removing nail polish.
I started at the pinky finger and worked my way along, peeling off the plastic backing and adhering the nails to my own nails.
I left both thumbs for last otherwise I would have never been able to get the plastic backing off, and as The Husband was away for the night I didn’t think that my neighbor would be interested in helping.
Taaa daaaa!
I actually quite like them. I’ve had them on since about 9PM last night and have washed my hands numerous times with soap and no issue yet.
Actually, I lie, the issue that I have had is running my hands through my luscious locks, the hair gets stuck under them!! Maybe I did not press them down hard enough, I'm not sure.
I wish they had more smaller options as my nails are not very wide.
They feel fine to wear, the thickness has not bothered me yet but if my hair continues to get stuck under them I will have to take them off tonight.
I think they would be perfect for when you are going out and realize that you forgot to paint your nails…
Which reminds me of another story.
I was running late for our engagement party (I know, I know) and painted my nails in the cab on the way, stressing about getting pink nail polish on my white silk Collette Dinnigan dress! These would have been perfect for such a conundrum!
Have you tried these or a similar brand? Would love some recommendations on other fake nails!!
