Brow Theory & Shu Uemura

Hello. I am here to preach about the awesomeness of having good eyebrows. It's taken me awhile to figure it out, but I am here now. Are you? Stand up and be accounted for.

I have been going to the same eyebrow lady for ages (and if you are reading this, I'm so sorry!!!) but she is just too far away. It takes me 55 minutes by tram to get to her and then I usually have to wait ages for my appointment.

I used to love the work she did, but I think that since she is so much more popular now, she just kind of rushes you through and pumps you out.

That's when I decided to go to my One Stop Shop, Miss Fox (where else?) and try out this threading business that people keep talking about. If only they had a dentist and GP on site, I could have all my business attended to at once.

I let my brows grow out for over a month (my mustache too) and visited Indo at the Brow Theory section.

Before:

I look so eager. Like a Beaver.

Ragh.

Indo asked me what sort of eyebrow shape I wanted and we went for a natural shape and thickness incase I hated it.
I sat back in the reclining chair thing, and she started her magic.

Wow, Threading hurts!!!

I actually think that it hurts more than waxing but it is done so quickly that I can't really complain!
I thought that I would be bald when she was done as you can feel every single teeny tiny hair being pulled out, but the shape was perfection.

I had a mascara coated stream running down my cheek from my eyes watering, and then we did my mo' and it was an all new kind of pain.

Indo started to panic about how sensitive my skin was because it was peeling like a bitch, but that was due to my Jungle Brew Peel, not the threading!

It took about 15 minutes for brow and mustache. Speedy Gonzales!!!!! Used to take 45 for just brows!!!

Before and After!

(You can also see how the pimples on my forehead are vanishing. I am putting it down to the peel but the before photo is after my peel, hence the insane inflammation and angry pimples.)

When I told The Husband that I was getting my eyebrows done he look at me very seriously, and told me to make sure I had my mustache done first as it was out of control. This is what happens when you get married, you let your self go.

The noise that the cotton makes kind of made me laugh out loud. Twang, Twang, Twang.
It was like a mini ukulele was being played on my face.

Indo finished it off with some Aloe Vera gel and the offer of make up to cover the slight redness but I was all good as was going home anyway.

I am a total threading convert. Why sit on a tram for 55 minutes, wait around and then not have awesome brows when I can walk to Miss Fox in 10 minutes?! Hell yes. One Stop Shop I tell you!!!

You can read more about Brow Theory @ Miss Fox by clicking here

Pricing starts at $35 for a full shape (your first appointment), with a touch up treatments at $25 when performed within 4 weeks of your last service. Other facial areas like upper lips, cheeks and chin are perfect candidates for threading. Appointments usually run for 15-30 minutes depending on the number of areas to be treated.

I put the call out on Twitter and Facebook for the best eye lash curler that I could buy from either Myer or David Jones and the clear winner was the shu eumura curler, closely followed by some ModelCo Wand thing.

I hightailed it to David Jones after my disastrous boxing session (the one that I passed out during) and nabbed a curler.

The top left shot is lashes with no mascara and only one clamp of the curler, bam!!
Obviously the right is no curler, natural lashes.

How creepy is this photo?!

Bottom is Mascara with no other make up on, there is not a huge difference but I put that down to me just swiping on some mascara quickly for the photo.

I'm happy with the curler!!

I don't know about you but I have kinda patchy eyebrows. I wish they were thicker and fuller, but it is nothing that brow powder can't fix.

I use the Tweezerman set that I got in Sephora yonks back.

Top is natural and bottom is lightly filled in.

I don't fill them in too much for every day life as I don't want it to be obvious but there is a slight noticeable difference and that is enough for me. Night time, totally different story.

I found this photo taken 2 years back. My eyebrows were pretty good. A tad thinner. Maybe i'll go thinner next time. Time will tell.

Anyway, I have scared you guys enough with all of the close ups of my make up free face and for this I apologize.

P.S - Pinch and a Punch for the first day of the month!!

P.P.S - I have an amazing date night planned for Saturday but have no idea what to wear. Argh.

White/Glitter/Boo

Happy Hump Day! Hoorah!!!!

Last week I wore this cute Caroline Morgan dress with the necklace that I bought in New York but can not for the life of me find the designers name in my old posts, so just make something up.

The skirt is very flippy. I should twirl in it.

I've also been rocking China Glaze Material Girl which looks fantastic on, but is too textured and rough. It also chips easily.

Meanwhile, I still love Boo.

I'm still loving going to Boxing 3 times per week, even if I did pass out during last weeks class due to low blood sugar! Embarrassing.

Flutter Back & Constance

I've been shopping in my own wardrobe.

Finding dresses that I forgot I had, thought did not fit me, or had no reason to remember.

This Indigo dress was one of them.

I loved it so much when I got it. I thought it would be perfect for the weekend just gone as it was 35+.

Yep, I have found the love for it again.

Speaking of Love.
The Hermes Constance Bag is on my 'Wish List'. I had seen photos of it online of course but had never seen it in real life until last Friday when a woman walking in front of me had one, and it was awesome. Casual, but elegant.

I am going to have to sell my liver on the black market for it though so will put it on the "Love, but will Never own" list.  /insert sigh here.

ASPECT - Jungle Brew Peel

Last Saturday before the Hens Night I had a Salicylic Acid Peel at Miss Fox. I had been told that people have sat up and ran out of the room during the peel as the pain was so intense. I thought that I was going to have to run to the Alfred Hospital's Burns Department. I was scared, this is true....

Before I get into it, I have been having quite a few tests lately and have discovered that I have Polycystic Cysts on my ovaries. After the Doctor told me this, she said to me "Have you ever experienced Acne???" I was like, Please sistah, you are preaching to the choir.

Turns out that my cysts are the cause of my acne and excessive oiliness. Who knew?! It also explains why my face is so hairy. I just put this down to being of Italian descent, which is also why I love Pizza, or so I like to think.

The Doctor said that it is not PCOS, just PCO...  but that it is still to blame for the acne etc. Great. Just great.
Anyway, the moral of the story is - I will probably never have great skin, but I like to try and help it out as much as I can.   A girl can dream, right?!?!?

For the two weeks before Aspect Jungle Brew Peel at Miss Fox, I had to use the Cosmedix Lightning Serum in case of pigmentation. I like the smell of this stuff.

"Brighten your way to remarkable skin with this unique formula that gently exfoliates and brightens age spots, melasma and hyperpigmentation. Epidermal growth factors, L-arbutin and L-lactic acid, along with licorice root and daisy flower extracts, join forces for unprecedented skin clarity and brightness! RRP $179.50"

Anyway, so the day of the peel rolls around. I haven't told The Husband that I am getting it done, in case he gets scared and imagines that I will look like Samantha and tries to talk me out of it...
Even though I am sure he has never seen that episode, but you really never know.

I'm not scared at all, but then I hear about the people freaking out thinking that their face is burning off.

I am taken upstairs to the serene waiting room, with its awesome green and black decor and am given a form to complete and then my super sweet therapist, Sara-Jane takes me into the treatment room and tells me what to expect. Victoria pops in and has a chat and makes sure that I am not scared (haha, I totally was).

1 hour before peel:

Sorry about the hairy face guys. I figure that if you followed my Roaccutane journey, you are used to seeing gross close ups by now... but if you haven't read it, you can here, just don't eat whilst looking at the photos.

On the left side of my face I had some black heads near my freckle cluster, and just the standard pimples and redness.

The forehead pimples are pretty annoying as they are big enough to not be able to hide easily when wearing make up, but compared to what I had when I started Roaccutane, I really should not complain.

Peel Process:
Sarah-Jane gave my skin a deep clean and put that cool light thing on my skin whilst I held a mirror and we surveyed the damage, oiliness and blocked pores.  I have a lot of issues in my hair line which drive me insane.  My skin is pretty hydrated though, with the exception of under my eyes so I was given a sample of SkinMedica TNS Eye Repair to try out and we will see if it has made a change when I go back for my next peel.

After using the light contraption, Vaseline was put around my eyes, nostrils and lips and the peel was wiped on to my face and I was instructed to breathe in through my mouth, not my nose, as it would burn!! Okay, maybe I am a tad more simple than I ever realised, as I really struggled to breathe in through my mouth only!!! It's like when you are sick and you have to sleep with your mouth wide open as your nose is blocked. Worst.

Anyway, as I was saying, the smell was deadly. The burn sensation is pretty hardcore but I liked the pain. Sarah-Jane had a fan and was fanning me down and that definitely helped ease the discomfort. I wouldn't say that it was 'jump off the bed and scream that my face was falling off' pain, more just 'okay, yeah, this shit burns' pain.

It only lasted a few minutes and then the peel was removed and some other stuff was slathered on, but I was not paying enough attention to be able to tell you any more. I was too busy loving being able to breathe in through my nose again.

The immediate effect was that my pimples were all inflamed and angry, about to grab pitch forks and terrorize a village, and the rest of my skin was blotchy.  My skin felt tight, but not uncomfortable.
Luna applied Jane Iredale Mineral Make Up (here ) and I was good to go!!

5 Minutes After Peel:

My skin looked fresher within 24 hours, but my pimples were looking worse and the black heads that were on my cheeks had come out and turned into pimples.

2 Days After Peel:

4 Days After Peel:

I had been told to expect to Shed like a Snake. I was looking forward to this!

The peeling was not as bad as I expected, but still fun. It was crazy tempting to pull the peeling off, but Victoria has given me some cream stuff to put on the flaking and after I applied it, my brother said "Whats wrong with your face?? Why are you so oily??" grrr. It was night time so it's not like it mattered...

7 Days After Peel:

The peeling has essentially stopped, the pimples are going into hiding and my skin looks fresher and more glowy. Not a massive change, but I can definitely notice a different. I have my next peel coming up, and it will be 3 weeks between treatments. Stay tuned!!!

BOO!!!! Check out my wet mullet.

See, glowy. My big mother pimples on my forehead are pretty much all gone too.

To try and make this post not so heinous, this is what I wore to the peel. I feel like this dress is from Supre but I cut the tag out so now I can't remember. I have my Alannah Hill flower brooches on the neckline.

Question time.
1. Have you had a peel? Did it help your skin?
2. Do you have cysts on your ovaries?

Thai & Sparkles

Last night my gorgeous friend Sara took me out to dinner, for a belated birthday dinner. We went to my favorite little Thai place, Gin Khao on Swanston Street but had I have known she was intending on springing for it, I would have taken her some where far more expensive (kidding Sara!!).

I wore what I had worn to work, my Caroline Morgan skirt with the red belt, a H&M shirt, Basque work heels and my clic clac.

You cant really tell, but I have been embracing my curly hair ever since I washed my hair on Monday and then sat on the bed for a second, next thing I know, The Husband is moving me to my side of the bed and putting the towel under my head so that I didn’t have to sleep on a wet pillow, because low and behold, I had fallen asleep soaking wet on the bed. I told him I wasn’t feeling very well but I don’t think he believed me. Anyway, my hair was curly when I woke up (no surprise there) so I decided to embrace it.

These cups are ridiculous. They roll all over the shop. What were they thinking?

I had my standard green curry with seafood and a side of Roti bread. I love Roti bread.

You know what else I am obsessed with? The meat Samosas from Curry Bowl. I walk past a Curry Bowl every day, and The Husband has only just discovered that I tend to sneak in a couple most days of the week. I think he can smell them on me. He is not impressed, I think he is scared I will turn into a Samosa over night, but they are just so good.

These rat-bag birds were giving me flash backs of Year 11 Media, watching Alfred Hitchcocks ‘The Birds’. Argh.

I got really frustrated at dinner because there was a woman behind us with her child in a stroller, probably 2 or 3 years old and the way she was treating him was just disgusting. He was crying and she was saying “I don’t want to look at your stupid face” and pushed the stroller so that it was facing away from her, and he was just staring into a corner. A while later he dropped his bottle and it rolled away, so she had to go and get it. When she came back she smacked him across the back of the head and said again how stupid he was and how she hates looking at him.  She was about 45 or 50, and was with a woman who looked like it could be her mum, so I don’t know if it was her child or she was babysitting, but it was just disgusting. Had she have treated him any worse I would have said something. I know it is none of my business how a stranger parents their child and that it would not have made a difference in the scheme of things, but I don’t stand for that.
He was just a child, and was not even being naughty. Ergh. Some people. Maybe you had to be there, but I am getting angry just thinking about it.

I am currently wearing China Glaze ‘Senorita Bonita’ with China Glaze ‘Marry a Millionaire’ layered over the top. It’s not my cleanest nail job as I was busy watching TV and eating whilst applying it, but I love it. It changes from light to light.

I have bought a couple of glitters online and they have all been so amazing, I cant wait to wear them all! I think my glitter fix is nearly complete… or maybe not.

The Husband said to me “Does this mean I don’t have to bring you back any from America now?” Uh.. No. You still have to bring me back lots.

Sorry if there are typos in this, I am writing on my iPhone on my lunch break. I have boxing again tonight, I am loving it. 3 times a week – I am going to be a machine. Stay tuned for the muscle mania show.
