My New HAIR!

Y'all can be proud of me. I didn't back out of my hair appointment! I started the day with two lattes, both with 3 sugars each which was perhaps not a smart move for someone who usually only drinks one coffee per month, and it is a weak one.

I was flat chat busy at work today and the coffee just made me highly irritable. After a quick Christmas lunch at work, I headed out shopping with el Husband.

The 'Before' Shot.

We headed to Laurent for a sly 'calm my nerves' donut and apple juice before I slinked into Miss Fox, anxious and full of nerves.

My scared face. Real cute.

Waiting for me in Miss Fox was this cute little Champagne, just the thing I needed to calm my nerves, especially after Luna came at me with the clippers and I freaked out!! It took Victoria and Luna trying to decipher what exactly it was that I wanted, and Erin being a hair model, for me to get my ass back in that seat.  I'm not going to sugar coat it, I was sweating.

Luna used the razor/clipper things to get a precise cut and we started off at about nipple length, then shoulder, then collar bone and then on to the final cut. We took it slow. Smart.
After reaching the perfect length and style, Luna put some texture into it with some layers, thinning and a little side fringe.

I thought that I would be crying, but I absolutely love my new hair do!!!

I feel so light and fresh. So fresh and soooo clean, ha.

When I stood up after my cut, my hair was stuck to my bum, all over my skirt. I guess because I was sweating at the start? I looked like I had Werewolf Bum.

Hunch Back. Sorry Mum.

When I got home I made The Husband close his eyes and then he was scared to open them! He appears to like it, but you never really know with men, do you? He did remark that I am like a completely different new wife, go him.

Now, how to maintain the luscious volume and smoothness? Keratin is next on the program.

P.S - I just used the tag 'good hair day' for the first ever time. Welcome to my life.

Thoughts on my new hair?? I feel like I look so youthful!! Maybe I will start to get carded again. One can only hope.

I'm cutting my hair.... and Freaking The Hell Out!!!

If you know me, or have read my blog for donkeys years you will know that I always bang on about want to cut my hair into a long bob. I’ve been saying this for years.
When I started dating S, he told me how much he loved my long hair and how feminine it was. Every few months I would say, I’m going to cut my hair off and he would put his foot down and demand that I kept it long.
3 weeks ago we were both in the bathroom getting ready and I said “I’m going to cut my hair” to which he looked at me, was silent for a moment and then said “Yeah, okay. Do it” so I made the appointment and now that it is tomorrow I am kind of freaking the phuck out.

I think that I tend to hide behind my hair, if that makes any sense. When I am nervous/sad/bored I tend to pick at it (probably why it is in such bad condition actually) to avoid having to look at people. This drives people insane I have found.

I have also realized that if I feel self conscious in an outfit, I use my hair to hide an open back or a revealing front to make myself feel more covered and it tends to help.

Just writing this post has left me feeling sick in my stomach. I haven’t had short hair since grade 6 I don’t think.

I’m hoping that if I take these photos to the salon, it will come out looking similar. If I want to wear it curly, I want it to look like these (one can only dream):

So what are your tips for not freaking out and having a melt down in the salon chair tomorrow?  I know that it is just hair and that it will grow back, but still!!!!

Christmas Decorations.

Last night was a long and treacherous one which included double sided tape and blunt scissors. I was cutting out all these damn Christmas Tree Place cards for Christmas Dinner when not only was I covered in sticky tape but I also managed to cut my nail, a day before my manicure. Such a nong sometimes. Actually, always.

During my Big W expedition to buy a few extra toys for my nephews and nieces, my bag full of other Christmassy goodies broke whilst I was waiting for the check out and my arms were full of toys so I couldn’t even bend down to pick all my crap up. I nearly burst into tears as I was starving, needed to pee and my arms and shoulders were killing from carrying so much stuff. It took a few minutes of me attempting to put the toys somewhere and trying to bend down without dropping even more stuff before the guy behind me took pity on me. Seriously, a line of 10000000 people and it took a few minutes.

I must have looked amusing struggling so bad that people didn’t want to stop the entertainment. I don’t know about you, but if I see someone drop something and their hands are full I always help them out!! I walked home very slowly with my ginormous shopping bags and S asked “Did you really carry all that” and to which I replied that Christmas should be cancelled!!!

I also started to wrap presents and stick labels on them, but forgot to buy the string stuff that I was intending on using so might do that today or tomorrow if I have the time.
In other news, my niece Sophia is over from America for Christmas and I could not be more excited to see her!!! The Husband and I are headed away for a few nights after Christmas, cannot wait.

I didn’t buy Ashleigh-Rose a birthday present a few months back because she was in Europe so I took her to Doncaster on the weekend looking for a present. It was definitely a labor of love. She wanted Barbie’s and then decided she didn’t play with Barbie anymore, then she wanted a real puppy and I said no, then she wanted a toy which was $200 (for a toy!!!!) and I said no as Christmas was close blah blah blah. Anyway, we ended up Build A Bear, which is like Hell.
I asked the staff member how she does this all day and her answer was simple “I overdose on sugar every day” haha. Ashleigh-Rose picked out her bear and dressed it in a fishermans outfit which was actually not very cute ha. I decided to get S a little present and I got him a bear and dressed it in a NBA uniform, as he is obsessed with NBA. Pity it wasn’t purple and yellow but the Knicks are good enough. When I got home and gave it to him he actually did love it, but perhaps he is just a fantastic actor. I bought all of his Christmas presents online and only 2 have come, and they are tiny so it’s going to be a sad Christmas for him, unless they come before the 7 January which is his actual Christmas, then he wont be so sad.

My Hair is Not So Gross now.

The last couple of months have really had me scratching my head (no pun intended) at what I was doing so wrong when washing my hair. I would literally spend 5 minutes making sure that I had scrubbed all of the shampoo and conditioner out of my hair, but no matter what, the roots on the left hand side of my hair were totally oily when I would be blow drying my hair. I tried letting it dry naturally, but you could still fry and egg on that hot mess.

I thought that the Pure Fiji shampoo and conditioner ($9 each) was doing great things for me, but it really wasn't. Perhaps because I had been using it in Fiji where I had also been swimming every day, my hair was rinsed out already. Maybe I was blinded by smelling like a delicious coconut.

Then I tried John Frieda Brilliant Brunette ($17.27 each) and I had the same issues. I decided it was just a problem that I would have to deal with. Ergh.

After going to the salon on Friday to have my hair blow dried, the hairdresser asked what hair products I use and I told her that apart from rarely using hairspray, it was only the shampoo and conditioner.  She told me that I had a terrible build up of product close to my scalp on the sides of my head and that's why it has been feeling so gross. Despite me scrubbing and rinsing, my shampoo and conditioners were just not cleansing enough so she recommended that I give these Kerastase products a try.

I was hesitant due to the price $47 and $38 respectively, but knew that I had to try something so I bought them and gave them a whirl last night.

Okay guys. This is the shit.
It doesn't smell pretty, but I guess it doesn't need to. I used the shampoo twice and conditioner once, and my hair is freaking brilliant today. ZERO product build up and it feels so light and soft. It will actually be a shame to cut it all off this Friday now.

I wish someone had suggested these products to me earlier!!! Has anyone else used them due to having the same issues as myself???

Can't believe I suffered through grossness for so damn long.

I was lucky enough to receive this Circa candle in Lilac & Orchid from my office K.K - love the scent and the matches kill me! There are so massive and awesome. Impressed.

I've also been on a slight Glasshouse candle spree...

Tahaa smells just like caramel and makes me salivate every time it is burning. I think it is aiding to my weight gain from eating all things caramel. Ha.

This was me before I had my lady mo' waxed on Thursday. It was getting a tad out of control.

Christmas Party

I'm so excited that Christmas is rapidly approaching!!

I had my office Christmas Party last night at Crown Casino. The venue and food was lovely and all that stuff.

I wore my ASOS Ponti dress paired with my red Review belt - I was a walking Christmas Present!

I love this dress but am so annoyed. It is brand new and the seam split in two different places, one being right on my bum!!! It is not too tight and was not stretched or anything like that and I have since heard of others with the same dress having the exact same issue. Pathetic.

I don't know who saw my bum before Kitty noticed and hustled me into the bathroom to safety pin it for me. Lucky I shaved my legs, since she was right up in my business. Ha.

The only polish that I have which is close to Christmas green is China Glaze Atlantis so I quickly applied. Once The Husband saw it he quipped "I don't think you should wear it outside of the Festive Season" haha I can take a hint.

The best way to hide a lazy eye? Cover it, of course!

We took it upon ourselves to crash the Christmas party in the next room, The Palladium and take advantage of their massive dance floor, live band and spirits.

I'm not going to sugarcoat this - I was trashed. Way too many drinks. I don't even remember the last time I have been that drunk!! I had a WP shot in one of the bars when kicking on the festivities after the party ended, and it completely wiped me out. My alcohol quota is up for the rest of the year. I'm done.

I had to swap my orange party hat for a red one, I am not in the business of clashing.

It was too hard to get a cab home, there was a ginormous line at the rank and I couldn't be bothered walking in my wedges - not to mention it's dangerous to do so in the city, alone, after midnight - so I ended up booking a suite at Crown at about 1:30am and The Husband came and joined me at about 3:30am after his Christmas Party! Best idea.
I feel like we have been on a little holiday.

I didn't take any photos of the room last night because I was too busy concentrating on not passing out, vomitting and trying to not slur my words
.
These photos are from this morning when we were checking out, and I felt so disgusting putting on last nights outfit with no make up (except for my eyeshadow and eyeliner which didn't come off with soap).

Thank goodness for the vanity kits. I definitely appreciated the toothbrush, toothpaste and comb.

Getting ready to face the world without sunglasses. Oh the shame!

I could totally have slept in this bath.

I'm glad that I experienced my first ever Walk of Shame with my husband!! I felt so out of place when checking out this morning. The sun was shining and I was a crinkly mess.
I had a few people look at us funny (or maybe I was just paranoid) and I think it was pretty obvious due to my sad make up and party dress that we were wearing yesterdays clothes and on a Walk of Shame. The hole in my dress did not make life easier either.

I am seriously hung over. I don't have it in me to type any more. Hubby is asleep next to me with his paw resting on my tummy so I think I shall go and join him.

Nightmares

Do you ever have a Nightmare that feels so real that you are shook up about it for days later?

Last night I dreamt that I was starting a beautiful tropical holiday, I think it was in Hawaii and I was with The Husband, Dad and Bet.

We had just arrived when The Husband said he was going to go and get changed in the hotel room and the rest of us headed for the beach. About 10 minutes later, black clouds started to roll into sight over the water and hotel staff were running about screaming that everyone had to leave the island, their was a jet waiting to take us all and that women and children had to board first.

I tried to go and find The Husband but the staff would not let me go, so I yelled to my Dad to go and find him whilst Bet and I boarded the flight.
About 10 minutes later, Dad walked onto the plane looking terrified and just shook his head at me. I asked him where The Husband was and all he could reply was, ‘He’s Dead.’
The hotel staff told us that he had taken Acid and had fallen and hit his head, but I was screaming that he would never, ever touch drugs so what did they do to him?! They just kept pushing us onto the plane despite me screaming.
I woke up absolutely sobbing and wailing The Husbands name, obviously he woke up and was asking me what was wrong but all I could get out was that I had had a nightmare. I clung on to his arm until I could get back to sleep but I woke up feeling so emotional and on edge!
I hate having such terrible nightmares where they feel so real. It takes me hours, if not days, to recover from them!!
Sometimes I think it is good to write down nightmares, hence me sharing this story. Does anyone ever research what their dreams mean??

On a lighter note, The Glossery Giveaway will be drawn shortly!

Glitter on Red

I just received my package from The Glossery which contains some China Glaze polishes.
I decided to live life, and go glittery.
I don’t usually every wear glitter but after having Shellac Zillionaire on, it seems like a bit of fun and definitely makes me happy.

I’ll post the other colours next week after I have my Shellac Wildfire taken off, but for now, here is China Glaze Fairy Dust over my Shellac, on the pinky. Quite fun!!

Don't forget to enter The Glossery China Glaze Giveaway! It will be drawn this Thursday!

The Weekend!

I feel like my Siri is really stupid. Does anyone else feel the same way? We asked her "Is it raining outside?" and this is what she thinks I said, and her response. Rightyo then. I usually have her turned off. She is not as helpful as the ads would have you believe.

I know that I have said it a zillion times, but I want a dog so badly. I got this cute little Sausage Dog statue at Target for $12 and S just looked at me like I was insane. Whatever. He is awesome and lives on our bedside table now.

One of our generous clients gave some of the staff some chocolates, they were so delish! I don't mind a box of artisan chocolates, that's for shizzle.

S has been well trained - if I do say so myself. If he is going to eat them whilst I am not home, he must only eat half. I don't want to miss out on the flavours!!

I wore my Gorman dress to work during the week, I love this dress. I really do.
It doesn't sit right on my waist though, more on my rib cage so I kind of feel like it makes me look thicker than I am. Never mind. Still good. I wore it with my Zara heels and now have no idea where they are.

Look, a ladybug thought I was a flower. Silly little ladybug. I remember I only ever used to see red ladybugs.

This is how I wore it to Stakes Day if you need a refresher!!

As I am slack/trying not to spend too much money, I normally get 3 weeks out of my shellac, but as our work Christmas party is this Friday I changed it up after 2 weeks in order to be able to have the right colour for the Festive Season.

Hot Pop Pink and Zillionaire - after 2 weeks.

I have OPI Strawberry Margarita on my toes, and it is a very close match if anyone is interested.

Here is a photo of me being the awkward human being that I am on Friday.

After work, I was rushing to get my nails done at Miss Fox  as I was running late, surprise, surprise and on the way a guy ran after me, grabbed my arm to stop me and told me he just had to meet me. Flattered much?!
He asked what I was doing and I replied that I was going to go and have a manicure and he said that he bet I was getting a colour to seduce the world. I told him that my husband might not approve of me seducing the world. He said he wished he met me earlier, before I got married. What a charmer.
I totally give him points for chasing after me on the street. I think that would be a great pick up tool.

Welcome back, Long Arm. It's been a while since you have popped up.

Wearing my Target Dress. The Husband said to me "Love that dress" and I proudly said, "Thanks, it's from Target!!!". I think a compliment is better on a bargain dress than on a pricey dress for some reason.

I took this photo whilst waiting to meet a friend at The Tan running track the other day, before I broke my phone. I still haven't had it fixed because Vodafone said it will cost $350 excess with my insurance. I will also make an appointment to see Apple. I'm getting used to using it now though!

andddd the standard weekend shots. Coffee, Macarons, Breakfast.

If The Husband does not have a coffee, I just can't deal with him. Snappy like a Crocodile.

Yesterday I decided that the day had come to find my jeans. When we found them, they were crinkled and had shrunk from being in the wash/dryer. The Husband said "There is no way you will fit them!. They look like they belong to Ashleigh-Rose."

Well, I showed him. The old trick of laying on the bed and then jumping around to get them on worked a treat.

Levi Curve Jeans
Forever 21 Top

My favorite accessory is blurred in the background.

In the Christmas spirit of all things red, I bring to you..

My Nana's dress. Freshly wrinkled, just in case you could not tell.

Red Poppy Decals in a cafe

New Shellac by Miss Fox in Wildfire

It really has been so long since I wore a red nail, but wanted to match a red ribbon bow belt from Review that I am wearing to my Christmas party.

When I sat down in Miss Fox, the lady next to me turned and exclaimed that it was so weird to see me! She is a blog reader and fellow voguette who went to Miss Fox on my suggestion!
So lovely to meet you & I hope you enjoyed your quick Melbourne holiday!!!

In other news, this amazing Zimmermann dress is back on eBay after the winner unfortunately could not pay.  To bid on this stunning New with Tags maxi dress, click HERE

Happy Monday! (Haha, yeah right).
